1st Ski of the Season

I took my first ski of the season on the Campbell Creek greenbelt. I started around mile zero and was surprised how much snow remained from our first snowfall.

The base was thin and my rock skis were perfect. I’m glad I didn’t wear my nice skis. There was enough snow to glide nicely, but the baskets on my ski poles didn’t always hit snow and I could feel the pavement below.

As expected, the bridges and tunnels didn’t contain snow but I popped my skis off and walked through those. Just like in years past, the trail on the north side of Taku Lake was very thin. (It gets so much direct sunlight.) I stopped here and turned around.

It was a glorious, sunny day of skiing. I’m so happy the season has started!
